A damaged outdoor supply beside a canal was tripping the consumer unit and leaving the patio and jetty sockets unusable. The faults were traced, damaged cabling repaired, outlets replaced, the consumer unit upgraded and an EICR completed.
The installation
A tripping outdoor supply restored for safe, practical use beside the canal.
The customer’s canal-side patio and jetty needed working electrical outlets for everyday outdoor use and connection to the canal boat. The old sockets were damaged, no longer working and causing the consumer unit to trip.
The affected wiring was investigated and repaired before the damaged accessories were replaced. The work included a weatherproof twin 13 A socket and a 16 A industrial outlet with local isolation, followed by a consumer-unit upgrade and an Electrical Installation Condition Report covering the property’s installation.

Modern consumer-unit protection
The distribution board was upgraded with clearly labelled individual RCBO protection and surge protection, then the connected circuits were verified.
Outdoor and boat supplies replaced
Damaged accessories were replaced with a weatherproof twin 13 A socket plus a 16 A industrial socket and local rotary isolation for the canal-side connection.
EICR completed
The wider electrical installation was inspected and tested, with the condition and results recorded on an Electrical Installation Condition Report.
