Consumer unit upgraded
The existing Wylex board was replaced as part of the wider electrical improvements, with the installation inspected and tested during the work.
Perton domestic electrical upgrade
A genuine multi-part domestic electrical project in Perton combining a consumer-unit upgrade with additional garage sockets and practical socket alterations in a home office.

The Perton project
The work at this Perton property covered three connected improvements: replacing the existing consumer unit, adding useful socket outlets in the garage and altering socket positions in the home office.
The older Wylex consumer unit was replaced as part of the planned electrical work. The existing circuits were inspected and tested during the changeover, rather than treating the job as simply exchanging one enclosure for another.
In the garage, additional socket outlets were installed using surface-mounted wiring suited to the space. In the office, an existing twin socket was moved higher above desk level and a new single socket was added to make the room more practical for everyday use.
During the consumer-unit work, the existing installation was dealt with as found on site. Existing lighting and socket legs that could not simply be separated onto individual protective devices without causing tripping remained appropriately grouped rather than being presented as newly separated circuits.
What the job involved
A real example of combining consumer-unit work with smaller electrical alterations around the same property.
The existing Wylex board was replaced as part of the wider electrical improvements, with the installation inspected and tested during the work.
The existing circuit arrangement was dealt with according to the installation found on site rather than forcing changes that were not suitable.
Additional socket outlets were installed with neat surface-mounted wiring suited to the garage environment and intended use.
An existing twin socket was moved higher above desk level so power was available in a more practical position for the workspace.
A new single socket was added to provide another usable power point within the home office.
The before, installation-stage and completed photographs shown here are from the same Perton job completed by SL4 Electrical Services.
