What’s included

Professional from
start to finish.

Fault-finding is available across Dudley, Sedgley, Wolverhampton, Halesowen and surrounding areas. If there is smoke, fire, sparking or immediate danger, switch off the supply only if it is safe to do so and call the emergency services or your electricity network operator as appropriate.

01

Tripping circuits

Repeated RCD, RCBO or circuit-breaker trips investigated to identify whether the cause is wiring, an accessory, connected equipment or another part of the installation.

02

Loss of power

Dead sockets, lights or circuits checked systematically to locate loose connections, damaged cables, failed accessories and other supply problems.

03

Intermittent faults

Unpredictable faults and nuisance tripping investigated using suitable test equipment, with findings explained before remedial work begins.

04

Safe repairs

Where the cause can be confirmed and repaired during the visit, the affected work is made safe, tested and documented as appropriate.

Genuine completed work

See the installation.

These are real SL4 projects showing the finished work and the electrical issues addressed. Where matching customer feedback is available, it is clearly identified on the project page.

Clear fault-finding rates

Methodical testing.
No guesswork.

I work through the affected circuit logically, explain what the test results mean and keep you informed before extra time, parts or further remedial work are needed.

Initial fault-finding visit
£60first hour

This covers the first hour on site investigating the electrical fault and carrying out appropriate circuit tests.

Additional time£40 per hour
Any replacement parts or larger remedial work are discussed separately before going ahead.Describe the fault
01

Tell me what happens

Which switch trips, when it happens and what was being used are often valuable clues before testing begins.

02

Test the circuit safely

The installation is checked with suitable test equipment to narrow down the actual cause rather than replacing parts at random.

03

Explain the next step

If it can be repaired safely during the visit, I will explain the work. If more is needed, you receive a clear recommendation.

Smoke, fire or immediate danger?

Stop using the affected equipment. Switch off only if it is safe to do so. Call 999 for fire or immediate danger, or 105 for a problem with the incoming electricity supply.

Simple process

What happens next

  1. 1Send your postcode, a description of the fault and photos of the fuseboard or affected equipment.
  2. 2I’ll ask when the problem happens and whether anything changed before it started.
  3. 3The affected circuit is inspected and tested methodically to narrow down the cause.
  4. 4You receive a clear explanation and, where practical, a safe repair or quotation for further work.

Helpful answers

Common questions
answered clearly.

Practical information before you arrange a quotation or site visit.

Why does my RCD or RCBO keep tripping?

It can be caused by a faulty appliance, damaged wiring, moisture, a loose connection or a fault shared across more than one circuit. Testing is needed to identify the actual cause rather than repeatedly resetting the device.

Can the fault always be repaired on the first visit?

Many faults can be found and repaired during the initial visit, but concealed cable damage, intermittent problems or faults requiring replacement parts may need further work. You’ll be told what has been found and what the next step is.

What information should I send first?

Send your postcode, a photo of the fuseboard, a photo of the affected item and a short description of what happens, including which switch trips and when.

What should I do if I smell burning or see sparking?

Do not keep using the affected circuit or equipment. Isolate it only if you can do so safely. If there is fire, smoke or immediate danger, call 999; for a problem with the incoming electricity supply, call 105.
